Shift Patterns: Day Shift: 5.30am – 22.30 and Night Shift 17.30 – 07.30
Rate: £23.50 – £25.50
Reporting to: Service Delivery Managers

Job Role Purpose:

To provide high quality care to all patients transported by Prometheus in all its business streams including hospital bed watches in places of safety and any other business involving mental health patients, this may include trust ward or private units.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of patients whilst in the care of Prometheus. The candidate must hold responsibility of equality and diversity as well as ensuring patients dignity is maintained. The ideal candidate will act within their sphere of responsibility managing themselves and other members of the team. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act as well as local and national policies.

Key Communication & Working Relationships:

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To provide high quality evidence-based nursing care.
  • In the unfortunate event that physical intervention with a patient is required, it is integral that you can carry out this duty for your role.
  • To lead the team of staff throughout the patient transfer.
  • To ensure you have adequate handover of patient’s details, including the risk history, current presentation from either the Clinical Logistics Manager, RMN or nurse responsible for the patient at collection address.
  • To provide crisis intervention to patients experiencing mental health difficulties during a transfer.
  • The ideal candidate has a responsibility to be aware of relevant national and local policy regarding safeguarding children and adults.
  • To attend all relevant training, meetings, and reviews.
  • To ensure by attitude, approach, and response the continuation of good working relationships between staff and patients throughout the transfer.
  • To report accidents, complaints, and any untoward incidents promptly to the Clinical Logistics Manager.
  • Attend the Prometheus base your instructed to attend for the requested time by the Clinical Logistic Manager wearing company uniform.
  • Any other tasks deemed reasonable by the management team for the smooth running of the company.
  • To assist the operations Manager/ phone rota holder in ensuring all staff follow agreed policies and procedures detailed by Prometheus.

Responsibility for Resources:

  • Adhere to company guidelines for checking of vehicles and equipment prior to journey commencing.
  • Any issues or replacement of stock required are reported to the Fleet Manager/Supervisor

  • To take all possible precautions to safeguard the welfare and safety of staff, patients, and the public by implementing all policies and procedures relating to security.

  • The candidate is responsible for ensuring that they contribute and work towards the companies aims and objectives.

  • The candidate is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely records are kept which comply with company policy, reporting any issues as appropriate.
  • The candidate is responsible for ensuring they clearly communicate with patients, both Prometheus staff and staff at collection and delivery addresses, actively listen to adhere to patient needs.

Person Specification Essential:

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate excellent English language and communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a Health Care Assistant in primary care and in mental health.
  • Act honestly and with integrity and demonstrate a caring and patient-centred approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
